The Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas, Inc. (FAWCO) is an international network of around 12,000 members in 64 clubs spanning 34 countries. This not-for-profit, New York-based, UN-accredited organization with Special Consultative Status to the UN Economic and Social Council promotes the interests of American citizens living abroad.
FAWCO’s mission is to build strong support networks for its American and international membership; to improve the lives of women and children worldwide; to advocate for the rights of U.S. citizens overseas; and to mobilize the skills of its membership in support of global initiatives for education, the environment, health and human rights.
To this end, FAWCO serves as a resource and channel of information for its members, promotes the rights of U.S. citizens living overseas and contributes to the global community through philanthropy and global issues task forces.
The philanthropic arm of FAWCO – The FAWCO Foundation – is an independent entity, which has donated more than $1,000,000 to the global community through development grants, educational awards and support for disaster relief since its inception in 1967. As a member of AWC Bogota, you are also a member of FAWCO.
Active AWC Bogota members and their children have the opportunity to apply for the FAWCO Foundation Education Awards and either vote on or propose a project to be awarded the annual Development Grant.
NOTE: All aspiring applicants for an Education Award must have been a member of a FAWCO-affiliated club for a minimum of 16 months by the March 27, 2022 application deadline. i.e. In order to apply, you must have been a member of AWC or another FAWCO-affiliated club since November 27, 2020.
